Let’s discuss the pros and cons of WordPress…

Pros:

Easy to use and update - You can login to your very own WordPress site and update and add new pages without having to contact and pay your web developer. WordPress is incredibly user friendly which is great if you want to take the reigns and create and update pages on your website yourself.

Powerful Possibilities - You can easily extend your WordPress website by using plugins. By installing plugins you can add a variety of functionalities to your website such as an additional photo gallery, adding a contact form or a reservation system and so on. The possibilities are endless.

Templates - There are thousands of templates which have been developed by numerous professionals, ready-made for you to use on your website.

Ownership - WordPress provides you with full control of your website, including all of its contents and domain name. You are given complete ownership of your website and can make any changes you wish to make at any time. There is also absolutely no limit on the growth of your website with regard to user traffic, sales and popularity.

Cons:

Maintenance - It is your responsibility to keep WordPress, templates and plugins up to date.

Learning Curve - Although WordPress is easy to use, it can take beginners a while to fully become familiar with the user interface and software. There is plenty of support out there however you will need to put in some effort when using WordPress.

Now let’s a have a look at HTML; what is it and should I use it for my website?

HTML can be described as a markup language which is used to display pages on a website. The majority of websites use HTML to create web pages. Generally speaking, you will need to hire a web developer in order to create an HTML website for your business. HTML websites keep all content in static files.

What are the pros and cons of HTML websites?

Pros:

Minimal Requirements - HTML websites can run on cheap servers with low resources.

Low Maintenance - Once your business’ website is live, you do not need to regularly backup or install updates. You can backup your HTML website just the once, as long as no further updates are undertaken.

Cons:

No Additional Features - There is a limit on the growth of your website. If you wish to add functionalities to your website such as an additional photo gallery or contact form, you will need to contact and pay for a web developer to carry out such tasks. In most cases, the web developer would recommend for you to move your HTML website to WordPress.

No Updates - HTML websites can prove very difficult to update for beginners. Unless you know how to use HTML, you will need to pay for a web developer to undertake small tasks such as adding a new page or updating content.

Cost - Considering you may have no choice but to pay for a web developer to undertake small tasks and update your website, the cost of a HTML website could reach a much higher amount than a WordPress website.

Now we have discussed the pros and cons of both WordPress and HTML websites, which one should I choose for my business’ website?

If you would like to have the control and freedom of your website, where you can update and alter your website yourself without having to pay additional web developer fees, then WordPress is obviously the better choice. However if you are certain you will never want to update or alter your website once it is live, then an HTML website may be the better choice as it will serve this purpose.

Furthermore, for those who wish for their business’ website to grow and in turn make you more money, then WordPress is the way to go. WordPress provides you with the freedom to update and add content to your website whenever you like, without having to pay additional fees for a web developer. You will be part of an ever increasing WordPress community and will find plenty of free assistance and advice in order for your business to grow. Instead of having to pay for a web developer to provide assistance, you can put this money back into your business to aid its growth.
